    Great value in everyday Pinot Noir! The grapes from this vineyard are grown directly across the road from Pommard, and create a nice basic red Burgundy that shows its fruit.

    • Pungent nose suggesting cherries but also with earthy notes and hints of strawberry and herbs. Light-bodied but not without presence. Bright strawberry fruit, soft acidity, and light tannins make this wine easy to drink now, but it gains weight with air exposure, suggesting it will develop further in bottle. Excellent value for everyday drinking.

      Food pairing: Salmon, roast chicken, pasta, lamb chops

    This Pinot Noir features beautiful, concentrated fruit. An amazing value, we find it a great everyday wine. Ready to drink!

    • Still young and a little distant at first, mostly with dusty, earthy notes on the nose but also surprisingly concentrated ripe fruit scents, a hint of floral perfume, and suggestions of wood. Comparatively light in body, but exhibiting rich fruit flavors balanced by brisk acidity on the attack before a rush of renewed fruit on the mid-palate and then an extended, slightly tart finish with a hint of cola spiciness. Approachable now, but likely to improve in bottle through around 2016. Excellent value. An excellent example of the appellation.

    A particularly fine example of this small and little-known Burgundy appellation, this Pinot Noir is a must for the value seeker looking for off-the-beaten-track wines.

    • Pure fruit on the nose, tending toward strawberries, but overlaid with leather, musk, and darker fruit scents. Delicate yet intense. Keenly focused, with just enough acidity to balance the fruit and light tannins. Rich, seductive mid-palate preceding a moderately long, slightly grainy finish. A very pretty wine, in every sense—but not without substance. Far more refined than commonly encountered Ladoix. That Xavier Durand devotes this kind of attention to this oft-overlooked appellation speaks volumes about his dedication to fine winemaking.

    A good basic Burgundy Pinot Noir, this wine is fruity and balanced. Ready to drink now, it will mellow further with a year of cellaring.

    • Offers simple, clean, straightforward fruit on the nose tending toward strawberries but also with a hint of spice and mushrooms and a little oaky toast. Not a powerful wine, but with good body, excellent poise, and a very appealing delicate, ethereal quality hard to articulate. Ready to drink, but attractive, fruity sweetness on a moderately long finish suggests there may be a little further development. Solid. An excellent value.

    A wine in the same style as Les Amerots, but richer and more intense! Grown way up by Dijon, near the Côte de Nuits, this is a great basic Pinot Noir with excellent value. Some of our customers can’t get enough of it! Available in 2 vintages.

    • Earthy scents combine with up-front fruit and hints of clove and other spices on the nose. There is a musky element to the nose as well, but the wine comes across as clean nevertheless and on the palate similarly combines a certain rustic quality with rather more finesse than Marsannay is generally noted for. Still somewhat closed, with tannins veiling the underlying fruit, but solidly structured, promising good things ahead. Drinkable now but likely to soften considerably and to improve through around 2017–2018.

      Food pairing: Ribs, duck, venison, rabbit, other game

    • Gorgeous, complex nose. A bouquet of floral notes (especially violets). Also truffles, raspberry, and dried fruit aromas. Prominent red fruit flavors, red licorice, light earthy notes, black pepper and suggestions of spice on the palate. Medium-bodied with moderate acidity. Slightly tart, zesty plum and raspberry flavors. Concentrated and persistent. Has an extended, fruity finish with hints of something savory. Attractive now, but drink by around 2017.

      Food pairing: Pork dishes in light fruit (prune) sauce

    • A fragrant, toasty, nutty blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Deliciously rich, with hazelnut, pear, and vanilla flavors. A lovely, dry finish with lingering toasted hazelnut and tart apple. Drinking very nicely now, but complex and likely to continue to develop through around 2017.

    White in spite of its name, this vintage Brut Champagne features a 50/50 blend of Pinot and Chardonnay grapes assembled only in exceptional years. Balanced, fragrant, structured and long in the mouth. And the excellence of the 2009 vintage only heightens the delight!

    • Pale gold color, with fine, persistent bubbles—pretty in the glass. Light, grapey fruit on the nose. Less toasty and (at first) with less of the apple scents so common in fine Champagne. Instead it offers clean, intense grape scents along with figs and hazelnuts. Intensely fruity on the palate with something suggestive of apples finally emerging on a long, lingering finish. Clean, crisp, full-flavored, delicious.
