Shipping to these states is variable based on zip code and address. Fill in both address and zip on our checkout page to see your shipping quote.

We will contact you if we cannot ship to your state, or in case of weather holds.

All orders have a processing time of 1-2 business days. Shipping will take the following amount of time to arrive at its destination, after it’s been processed:

State Time to Ship, AFTER 1-2 days processing time
California 1 business day
Idaho 2 business days
Missouri 4 business days
Nebraska 4 business days
Nevada 2 business days
New Hampshire 5 business days
Oregon 2 business days
Washington DC 5 business days

(Shipping times estimated by independent shipper. Remember that it may take an additional day to deliver, if there is no adult present to sign for the package when delivery is first attempted.)

All wine shipments must be signed for, in person, by an adult at time of delivery. If you are not available to sign in person, you may reschedule the delivery to a better time, or have it shipped to a secondary location, such as a Fedex Local Store, your place of work, or a neighbor or friend.

You may not ship to a PO Box.

If you have any special shipping needs, or are operating on a set time-scale, please contact us directly after placing your order, and tell us your delivery expectations.

We can also help schedule shipments for convenient delivery times, if you contact us.

Cave to Cellar does follow local alcohol shipping restrictions, so if you live in a dry county or a local area that does not accept liquor imports, we will be unable to ship to you. Dry counties are located in Ellsworth and Monroe and Millsfield, New Hampshire, and Panaca, Nevada — and elsewhere.

Shipping costs will be computed at time of purchase.

Sales and Alcohol Taxes will also be computed at the time of purchase. We are required by law to collect these, and can make no exceptions.

Legal Issues

Restrictions on quantities.

California has no restrictions on quantities of wine that can be shipped to specific addresses. Other states may have such restrictions.

Age Restrictions.

It is against the law to sell alcoholic beverages to any person who is:

  • Under the age of 21 years old
  • Visibly intoxicated

By law, the person delivering our products must enforce these restrictions.

It is a violation punishable under law for any person under the age of twenty-one to present any written evidence of age which is false, fraudulent or not actually his/her own for the purpose of attempting to purchase any alcoholic beverage.

Sales Tax.

Sales and alcohol tax varies by state and zip code, and is assessed as required by law during the checkout process. We unable to waive this fee, as it is a legal requirement.

How We Ship Wines

No Substitutions Without Consent.

We do not substitute wines in your order without your consent. However, all wines listed on the website are in stock, unless otherwise noted.

Please include accurate contact information so that we can contact you if quantities are not available.

Be Present to Sign at Delivery.

An adult (over 21) is required to be present when the wine is delivered and to sign for it. He/she is required to show government ID as proof of age (driver’s license or passport).

Be sure to address the wine to someone who is available to receive it.

If you are having trouble finding a delivery time that will work for you, please contact us. We may be able to work with our shipper to arrange a suitable delivery time.

IN THE EVENT THAT WINE IS RETURNED BECAUSE THE RECIPIENT CANNOT PROVE ELIGIBILITY OR WILL NOT SIGN, THE SHIPPING FEE PLUS A 15% RESTOCKING FEE WILL BE ASSESSED.

Weather.

Wine can spoil in extreme temperatures (hot or cold). Therefore, when it gets too hot or cold, we will not ship your wine until the temperature changes.

In such instances, we will store your order in our climate-controlled warehouse and contact you to reschedule or refund a shipment.

Independent Shipping Companies.

California orders are filled by Golden State Overnight. Some Nevada orders are also filled by GSO. Orders from other states are filled by FedEx, or (in rare instances) a third-party shipper.

Shipping fees are due at the time of purchase.

All of our shipping providers are companies experienced in wine transport and delivery, which ensures that our shipments are treated in a timely fashion with all the necessary care.

If you miss a delivery, or need additional assistance, contact our independent shippers using the information left on your door. They will work with you to arrange a delivery time.

You may also contact us, and we contact the independent shipper on your behalf.

Shipping Rates and Restrictions

No PO boxes or APO/FPO/DPO addresses.

By law, wine products can only be delivered to recipients over the age of 21, and a person must be present with an ID to provide a signature at delivery. Therefore, we regret that Cave to Cellar is not able to ship wine to PO boxes or to APO/FPO/DPO addresses.

It is important that you include a daytime phone number for the recipient. This will be used for contact about delivery specifics and changes.

Delivery Problems.

If our delivery and shipping services attempt to deliver the wine reasonably on schedule, but are unable to deliver due to negligence of the buyer, the delivery/shipping price is not refundable. Examples of such buyer negligence include, but are not limited to: incorrect address, incorrect phone number, no person available to sign, person available to sign is not of age, person available to sign is inebriated. IN THE EVENT THAT WINE IS RETURNED BECAUSE OF BUYER NEGLIGENCE, THE SHIPPING FEE PLUS A 15% RESTOCKING FEE WILL BE ASSESSED.

Gift Shipments.

If you are giving a gift, remember that SOMEONE MUST BE PRESENT TO SIGN FOR THE WINE UPON DELIVERY. Therefore, it is important that you tell the gift recipient that they should expect a delivery.

Please provide contact information for the recipient, in case our independent shippers need more information to arrange a delivery.

In the event that the gift recipient cannot be reached, the buyer will be contacted to arrange delivery and shipment.
