Domaine Besancenot
2002 Beaune Premier Cru Cent Vignes
A rare opportunity to sample what a classic Burgundy Pinot Noir tastes like after long cellaring — without the wait! Also available in recent vintages. Note: Older vintages can be fragile. See our special recommendations for opening and pouring older wines.
A complex and still developing nose suggests roses, wet earth, earthy minerals, coffee grounds, and red licorice. Concentrated, ripe, red fruit flavors of medium intensity mark the palate with a hint of something savory in the background. Still lively and fruity despite its age. Verging on the full-bodied. Substantial and mouth coating. Dark, fleshy blackberry and wild raspberry flavors. Well balanced with rounded, supple tannins. Combines poise with muscular structure. Both chewy and generous, with persistent, lively fruit. Good length. Will stand up to pork in glaze or duck or other game meats. A wine that stimulates the appetite!
Food pairing: Duck or pork in glaze as well as game meats
